Jaleel White to Host Syfy Game Show Total Blackout

America’s favorite nerd takes contestants to the dark side.

For all you Urkel fanatics, Jaleel White is making a return to TV, though it’s not in the role that made him a ‘90s household name.

The actor best known as iconic nerd Steve Urkel from the TV sitcom Family Matters is getting his own show, hosting the just-announced Syfy game show Total Blackout. On the show contestants will complete in different tasks, but they have to do so in complete darkness. But it won't be just the lack of light that makes their task challenging; there will also be a number of surprises, including creepy crawling critters thrown around the room.

“They had tarantulas on my hand...,” White revealed. “Really the biggest surprise will be the contestants' behavior, whether they maintain their composure or not, because the darkness brings out something in all of us."

After Family Matters ended in 1998, the former child mega-star has maintained a solid acting career, guest appearing in the hit Fox series House as well as starring in the film Judy Moddy and the Bummer Summer and a minor role in Dreamgirls.
