Justin Timberlake sent his condolences to the family of late race car driver Dan Wheldon on Monday (October 17). The Indy racer died suddenly in a car crash on Sunday at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

"I was deeply saddened to hear the news on Dan Wheldon's unfortunate and untimely death," Timberlake said in a statement, according to MTV News. "He was a great driver and a strong supporter of William Rast Racing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family in their time of loss."

Wheldon, a 33-year-old Brit, was sponsored by Timberlake's William Rast clothing line. He is survived by his wife and two young children.

In remembrance, the other drivers at the Speedway circled the Sin City track five times.
