Her The Help costar Octavia Spencer broke the news yesterday.
Viola Davis is a new mom! The Oscar nominee and her husband Julius Tennon adopted a baby girl named Genesis, reports E! Online. Davis' The Help co-star Octavia Spencer broke the news while she was presenting her with an award at Elle's Women in Hollywood gala, announcing that Davis became a mother "just two days ago."
"[She] really is a new beginning," Davis said of her daughter during her acceptance speech. The couple have been working on the adoption for some months, indicating at the premiere of The Help that the infant would be adopted "domestically."
This is Davis and Tennon's first child together. Tennon also has two adult children. Congrats to the happy family!
