Chiwetel Ejiofor to Star in New BBC 2 Drama


Dancing on the Edge will center on a 1930s Black jazz band.

The 1930s jazz scene will soon be finding a home on television in 2012.

 

According to the BBC News, British Nigerian actor Chiwetel Ejiofor will be starring in a new BBC 2 drama called Dancing on the Edge. The series is written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff and will follow a Black jazz band circa 1930.

 

Filming has already started on the series in London and Birmingham. Dancing on the Edge’s costars will include Jacqueline Bisset and Tom Hughes.

 

Ejiofor, who is best known for his starring roles in the American films Salt, opposite Angelina Jolie, American Gangster, where he starred with Denzel Washington and Talk to Me, with Don Cheadle, was last seen in the British police TV drama The Shadow Line.

 

Dancing on the Edge is scheduled to air next year.
