Fans of The Caped Crusader can rest easy, the long-awaited final film and third installment of the prequel Batman movies will be headed to theaters next summer, and judging from its trailer the action looks jaw-droppingly good.

The premise this time out: A terrorist leader named Bane arrives in Gotham City wrecking havoc.  His antics push the police to their breaking point and force Batman to resurface to make everything safe and sound for Gotham’s citizens. But now The Dark Knight is fighting crime under a storm of controversy—after taking the fall for Harvey Dent’s crimes. A little hazy on plot points? Now might be a good time to bone up on Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

As in the previous films, Morgan Freeman once again stars as Lucius Fox. The Dark Knight Rises arrives in theaters July 2012. Check out the trailer above.
