T.I. Joins Cast of Starz Drama Boss

T.I. joins cast of Starz drama Boss. The rapper will play a former gangbanger in his new TV role.

T.I. will flex the acting chops that have landed him film roles in ATL, American Gangster and Takers as a new cast member on the second season of Boss, a Lionsgate TV-produced dramatic series that airs on cable network Starz.

Boss stars this year’s Golden Globe Best Actor winner Kelsey Grammer as Chicago mayor “Tom Kane.” The rapper will play “Trey,” a former gangbanger with his eye on a political career. According to Deadline.com, T.I.'s character “is the conduit between a local Alderman and the only group powerful enough to function as a grassroots organization in the projects – gangs.” Sanaa Lathan was also cast as a season two regular in the role of “Mona,” an “incorruptible Chief of Staff” with whom Grammer’s Tom Kane becomes fixated. T.I., his wife Tameka "Tiny" Cottle and their six kids also currently appear on the VH1 reality TV show T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle.

Production for season two of Boss begins in Chicago today (March 19).
