Idris Elba, Don Cheadle Nominated for 2012 Emmy Awards

Mad Men leads the pack with the most nominations.

The nominees for the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning by Scandal star Kerry Washington and a pajamas-wearing Jimmy Kimmel.

Idris Elba was nominated in the Best Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for his work on British detective series Luther, which also earned it's own nod for Best Miniseries or Movie. Don Cheadle is up against Alec Baldwin, Louis C.K. and Larry David for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role on House of Lies. Giancarlo Esposito was also recognized for his supporting role on gritty drama Breaking Bad

Mad Men and American Horror Story tied for most nominations — 17 each — while British soap Downton Abbey and comedy Modern Family also scored multiple noms.

The 64th Primetime Emmys will be broadcast live on September 23rd on ABC and hosted by Kimmel.
