MJ's siblings have "no financial motive whatsoever," her lawyer states.
Things may have settled down in the Jackson family civil war, but the fight over Michael Jackson's will is far from over.
Janet Jackson issued a statement via her attorney, obtained by The Hollywood Gossip on Friday, vowing to continue the fight against the executors of her brother's will. Michael's younger sister made it clear that she and her siblings are not motivated by money, and are only attempting to look out for the best interest of their mother Katherine Jackson and the belated pop legend's three children.
“Since the loss of Michael Jackson, Janet, Randy, and Rebbie's principal concern has been and continues to be for the safety and well-being of Michael's children, their mother Katherine Jackson, and the entire family," the statement begins. "Unfortunately, those people have been harmed by actions of the executors of Michael's estate, the estate's lawyer, and those installed and paid to do their bidding.”
"It is important to stress that Janet, Randy and Rebbie have all questioned the validity of the will with no financial motive whatsoever — they stand to gain nothing financially by a finding that the will is invalid."
"What will be gained by a finding of invalidity is that the executors will be replaced and the estate and the guardianship will be managed in a manner that is in the best interests of the children, which is what Michael wanted."
The statement concludes, "Janet, Randy and Rebbie will continue to press forward in their search for the truth in order to carry out the wishes of their brother Michael."
Noticeably absent from the statement are Jermaine Jackson and Tito Jackson, who were initially in favor of contesting Michael's will and ousting executors John McClain and John Branca. The brothers have since retracted their support of the plan.
While the worst of the drama (hopefully) has passed, it's clear the Jackson family is still divided on the issue of Michael's estate.
