BET Exclusive: First Look at Red Hook Summer

Director Spike Lee returns to his hometown of Brooklyn for his latest joint.

Written, directed and produced by Spike Lee, in what many are dubbing a return to his movies of old, the Brooklyn-based director revisits his beloved New York City borough for Red Hook Summer. The story of a youth named Flick Royale (Jules Brown) who visits his deacon grandfather (Thomas Jefferson Byrd) and endures a life changing summer, the film delves into religion, class, culture shock and controversial church scandal.

Here’s an exclusive sneak peak of the movie featuring Lee alum and She’s Got to Have It star Traci Camilla Jones reprising her role as "Nola Darling," now christened "Mother Darling."

Red Hook Summer arrives in theaters August 10.
