Audra McDonald capped off her big year with a sweet celebration on Saturday night when she wed her beau Will Swenson. The Porgy and Bess star, who also starred on the hit television series Private Practice, married fellow Broadway star Swenson at their upstate New York home.
The couple, who first met in 2007, got engaged while on vacation in Puerto Rico this past New Year's Eve. "Well that was just the best day ever," McDonald tweeted on Saturday after the nuptials.
McDonald set Broadway records this year with a historic 322-performance run of Porgy and Bess, which earned her a career fifth Tony Award. The award tied her with Julie Harris and Angela Lansbury for most performance awards by a single actor. The actress will next be seen on the big screen in I Fought the Law, a crime drama also starring Oscar winner Melissa Leo.
Congrats to the newlyweds!
