Denzel Washington is once again blazing the big screen with a knockout performance in his new film Flight and soon the two-time Oscar winner will be back on the Great White Way.
Broadway.com is reporting the 57-year old actor could return to Broadway. “What I want to do is come back to Broadway which I plan to do in 2014,” Washington revealed during a recent interview with Charlie Rose. “[Producer] Scott Rudin and Kenny Leon, who directed me in Fences, we’re all trying to figure out which play to do. I won’t say which play; they’ve already got their minds made up…”
Washington, who earned a Tony in 2010 for the revival of Fences and has just wrapped his latest film 2 Guns with Mark Wahlberg, admitted to Rose that stage is his preferred medium. “I love theater the most,” Washington says. “I like acting on stage more than film because there is an energy you get from it.”
While the Training Day star’s impressive body of work allows him to star in any project he choses on the stage or screen, Washington told The Hollywood Reporter he’s fully aware that luxury still eludes Black women. He says they continue to have a harder time in Hollywood. “And the darker the woman, definitely,” Washington adds.
