The actor will play Eddie Murphy’s son in the small screen sequel of the film trilogy.
It looks as if the exploits of Axel Foley will officially live on for a new generation. Brandon T. Jackson has been confirmed to star in the CBS network version of Beverly Hills Cop, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The dramedy will explore the life of Aaron Foley (Jackson), son of Axel, who is a Beverly Hills cop looking to take on both the criminal activity in the posh city and escape the shadow of his larger than life father. Eddie Murphy will star as Axel in the pilot and. if the project goes to series, he will recur on the dramedy from time to time.
Deadline is reporting that Murphy handpicked Jackson for the role because the comedy icon is a fan of the young actor’s stand-up work. If the television version of Beverly Hills Cop becomes a series, audiences can expect an hour-long crime procedural, like the Law & Order franchise but only much funnier. Eddie back on the small screen plus Brandon is a must see TV combination in the making.
