Halle Berry is ready to take on the paparazzi in court, and this time, it's to protect the children.
The A-list actress, who has been dogged by shutterbugs incessantly over the years, is rounding up some of her celebrity pals to lobby for a legal ban against paparazzi photos of famous kids, the New York Post reports. Among the bold-faced names she's approached for her cause are Oscar winner Ben Affleck and his wife Jennifer Garner, whose daughters are frequently pictured in the tabloids.
Berry lost a petition last year to move her daughter Nahla Aubry to France, where anti-paparazzi laws are stronger than in the United States. Berry's ex and Nahla's father Gabriel Aubry blocked the move. Ironically, the former couple's custody battles have made Berry and her daughter even more fodder for gossip rags and blogs.
The Cloud Atlas star was caught on tape in an intense verbal fight with a paparazzo who attempted to snap photos of Nahla at her school last May, sparking her determination to get a legal order keeping paps away from children. She allegedly vowed to go straight to President Barack Obama with her case, if necessary.
Just last night, Halle Berry snapped at the paps at LAX, yelling, "Get away there's a child ... what the f--k is wrong with you people?" Her fiance, Oliver Martinez, charged at one of the photographers and Halle quickly restrained him.
Paparazzi have become a double-edged sword for many celebrities. They are a necessary evil to keep actors relevant, but often catch them in compromising or unflattering situations.
