The Butler is easily one of the most anticipated films of the year, and now we have our first real look at the historical drama, directed by Oscar-winner Lee Daniels.
A trailer for the sprawling epic, chronicling the experience of a White House butler who served in eight administrations, has hit the Internet, and cinephiles are appropriately surprised. The film doesn't bear any of the hallmarks of a Lee Daniels film (controversy, sexuality, foul language) and plays out more like a traditional period epic than an groundbreaking indie.
The Butler stars Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, Terrence Howard, Mariah Carey and many others. The film is due in theaters this October.
