The Oscar winner plays Electro in the sequel.
Spiderman fans at Comic-Con got a treat this week. Producers released the first clip from the upcoming film The Amazing Spider-Man 2 featuring Jamie Foxx as Electro, and the images are giving fan boys a shock.
Oscar-winner Foxx is unrecognizable as the super-charged villain strapped to a sparking machine. "I can feel it in the walls. I feel it in my veins," he says in an ominous voiceover. "No matter what you do doc, you can't contain it. You want to know how powerful I am? Well I want to know too. I'm Electro."
In the comic books, Electro gains the power to control electricity after being hit by a lightning bolt. In the new film, he will come up against Peter Parker, played by Andrew Garfield, as the hero struggles to balance crime-fighting with his relationship with Gwen Stacey (Emma Stone).
The Spiderman franchise doesn't seem to be slowing down, with each reboot out-earning the last. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 2, 2014.
