Andrew Garfield: Michael B. Jordan Should Join Spider-Man Franchise

The actor admits he's a fan of the Fruitvale Station star.

Is there a bromance brewing between Andrew Garfield and Michael B. Jordan? The Amazing Spider-Man actor expressed his admiration for Jordan in an interview with Vulture this week, even going as far as saying he's lobbying for Jordan to land a role in the Spiderman franchise.
The role Garfield has in mind for Jordan? An LGBT version of the character Mary Jane. "My beliefs about living and about life and about the world and humankind have nothing to do with Spider-Man, but what I do believe is that Spider-Man stands for equality," Garfield rationalizes. "Spider-Man will protect whoever needs protecting: gay, straight, Black, lesbian, bisexual, transgender. He's not gonna go help the middle-class white dude before he helps the homosexual Black dude!"
He continues, "[Spider-Man] is color-blind and he is blind to any sexual orientation, so it was more just a philosophical question of 'Why not?'"
Garfield goes on to say he's been a fan of the Fruitvale Station star for years. "It was The Wire where I first saw him and he broke my heart. And then of course I've been following him since, even in the movie Chronicle," he says.

"I saw that Michael responded to my comments [about playing Mary Jane], and I love that he took it in the fun that it was meant," the British actor continues. "It shows an evolved dude, you know? It shows a guy who gets it."
Jordan, who plays slain Bay Area youth Oscar Grant III in Fruitvale Station (produced by the Weinstein Company in association with BET Films), has been making lots of fans in Hollywood since the film first screened at the Sundance Film Festival in January. While it seems likely that offers are pouring in for the young actor, we doubt any are as interesting as this one!
