Oliver Stone Confirms MLK Biopic With Jamie Foxx

Plus, Foxx addresses rumors he is dating Katie Holmes.

Rumors of Oliver Stone developing a biopic about Martin Luther King are true, the director confirms to the Wall Street Journal. The controversial director, who has made a series of biographical narratives about American political figures, also confirms that Jamie Foxx will play the civil rights leader in his film.
"We're looking for a way to relate to this extraordinary man," Stone says, offering a glimpse into how his take on the MLK story might pan out. Whichever way he goes, Stone is sure to ruffle a few feathers. Stone's biopics on George W. BushJohn F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon have been controversial, as has his films about Vietnam, 9/11 and the financial crisis.
Stone and Foxx first worked together on the football saga Any Given Sunday, a breakthrough leading role for the former comedian and Grammy-winning musician. Foxx later won an Academy Award for his portrayal of Ray Charles in the 2004 biopic Ray.
The actor himself was making headlines this week after rumors started flying that he's dating actress Katie Holmes, ex-wife of Foxx's good friend Tom Cruise. Foxx denied the rumors on Tuesday, calling them "hilarious" and "100 percent not true." He adds, "In fact, it's quite hilarious because we simply danced at a charity event [last August] along with a lot of other people."
