Casting News: Denzel's Son, Viola's Daughter Land Roles

The A-listers get ready to pass the torch.

Two Hollywood A-listers are passing the torch to the next generation. Denzel Washington's son and Viola Davis's daughter will each jump off their showbiz careers with upcoming projects.

John David Washington
, 29, will follow in his father's footsteps with a recurring role in the upcoming HBO pilot Ballers, about the lives of several athletes in Miami. Washington will play Ricky, a highly competitive and highly spiritual pro athlete. The aspiring actor has one previous acting credit — a small role in his dad's film Malcolm X, but has spent the last several years playing college football and enjoying a stint with the St. Louis Rams.
Viola Davis' three-year-old daughter Genesis will make a cameo in the upcoming James Brown biopic Get On Up, in which Davis will play Brown's mother. She tells Ellen DeGeneres, "fortunately or unfortunately the acting bug has already bitten her...She's gonna be in the James Brown biopic that I'm doing and [director] Tate Taylor is gonna cast her as one of the kids." The two-time Oscar nominee jokingly added, "So we've been rehearsing at home because I don't want her to be fired!"
Keep an eye out for these famous kids on the big and small screen!
