Oldboy's leading lady talks teaming up with the Hollywood veterans.
Elizabeth Olsen is relatively new to the Hollywood scene, so no one would blame her for feeling intimidated working with two of the industry's most celebrated veterans — and old friends! — Spike Lee and Samuel L. Jackson. But the actress is the picture of poise when she talks about joining forces with these titans for Oldboy.
Lee's remake of the Korean thriller is dark and grisly, but Olsen says she felt at ease shooting some of the films more physically and emotionally challenging scenes, thanks to one of her co-stars. "[Samuel L. Jackson] was very protective of me," she reveals, adding that the king of cursing even came to her aid on days when they weren't filming together.
Olsen, the younger sister of billionaire twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (of Full House fame), says it was precisely Lee's envelope-pushing reputation that drew her to working with him.
