Philip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead in NYC Apartment

Oscar-winning actor reportedly died of drug overdose.

Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has been found dead in his New York City apartment, the New York Post reports. The celebrated actor apparently passed away after a drug overdose. He was 46 years old.
Hoffman’s body was found by a friend at 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning in an apartment, sources say. Cops were at the scene and are investigating.  Acoording to TMZ, Hoffman was found with a needle in his arm — allegedly he died of a herion overdose, which he went into rehab for back in May.
The actor, who won an Academy Award for his role as Truman Capote in the 2005 film Capote, recently starred in Hunger Games: Catching Fire and was set to appear in the next two films in the franchise, Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2
Hoffman became a cult favorite actor for his role in the Coen Brothers' The Big Lebowski, and earned Oscar nominations for Charlie Wilson's War, Doubt and The Master.
The Fairport, New York native has been candid about his struggles with drug abuse in the past. He completed a stint in rehab for heroin use last year.
He is survived by his longtime partner, costume designer Mimi O'Donnell, and their three children.
