Kevin Hart and Michael B. Jordan went head to head at the box office this weekend, but even MBJ's charm wasn't enough to wrestle the top spot from Hart. Ride Along topped the charts for the third weekend in a row, taking in another $12.3 million for a domestic total of $93 million. The film, also starring Ice Cube, will easily cross the $100 million mark by next week.
Jordan's film That Awkward Moment didn't make first place, but didn't fare badly at all with $9 million in ticket sales. The film came in third place, just behind Disney's runaway hit Frozen.
Labor Day, Jason Reitman's hard-to-define drama and the weekend's other new entry, tanked after getting terrible reviews. The Josh Brolin-Kate Winslet flick grossed a mere $5.3 million.
Next week, The Lego Movie goes up against Vampire Academy and George Clooney's Monuments Men. Will any of them be able to unseat Ride Along from first place?
