Memo to journalists: do your homework before reporting on ScandalShonda Rhimes, the mastermind behind the hit drama series, lashed out at entertainment website Deadline.com after it incorrectly reported that an actor named Eric Lewis had been cast as Harrison Wright following Columbus Short's exit.

Rhimes wasted no time shooting down the casting rumors, tweeting, "I've never heard of Eric West. Harrison is not being recast EVER. How about reporters CHECK THEIR SOURCES before running with a story? Um, @Deadline? Handle yourself."

Deadline.com claims the story was the result of an "elaborate hoax" but refused to fully recant the story. "It is unclear yet whether Short would be replaced," the site wrote, despite Rhimes' tweet to the contrary.

As for Eric West, he seemed to be as surprised as Rhimes about the rumor. "This is news to me," he tweeted.
