Box Office: X-Men Soars, Blended Crashes
X-Men: Days of Future Past takes the top spot at the Memorial Day Weekend box office, with an impressive $111 million gross.
The latest installment of the franchise, featuring a star-studded cast of Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry and more, is on track to bring in an amazing $304 million globally, making it the best debut of any X-Men movie and the top opening ever for a Fox film, beating out Avatar.
Godzilla, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen, stayed strong in second place with an additional $31.4 million.
The new Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler comedy Blended didn't fare as well. The film, which came in third place, is a genuine flop with an $18.2 million opening, one of the lowest to date for Sandler.
Rounding out the top five were Neighbors, starring Seth Rogen and Zac Efron, andThe Amazing Spider-Man 2, which brought in $13.9 million and $7.8 million, respectively.
Next week, A Million Ways to Die in the West goes up against Angelina Jolie's Maleficent.
