50 Cent Joins Antoine Fuqua's Boxing Drama Southpaw

Jake Gyllenhaal, Forest Whitaker also star in the film.

50 Cent continues his takeover of the entertainment industry with yet another new project. The rapper, actor and producer is set to star in Antoine Fuqua's Southpaw, Page Six reports. Fiddy will play a promoter in the boxing drama, headlined by Jake Gyllenhaal as a heavyweight champ who wins a title as his personal life falls apart. Forest Whitaker will also appear in the film.
Fiddy, who goes by his given name Curtis Jackson in Hollywood, has been making major moves both in front of and behind the camera. Power, the Starz series he executive produces, has been picked up for a second season and he also recently sold a pilot to Comedy Central.
The multi-hyphenate also dropped a new album, Animal Ambition, earlier this year and continues his entrepreneurial endeavors.

Southpaw
is currently filming in Pittsburgh and is expected to release next year.
