Singer faced unexpected criticism from social media.
The Twitterverse has spoken, and it is not impressed with Robin Thicke's public attempts to win back his estranged wife, Paula Patton. The "Blurred Lines" singer participated in a VH1 Twitter chat on Tuesday, where fans could ask him questions using the hashtag #AskThicke, and the conversation quickly took a turn to the ugly.
"Why hasn't Paula filed a restraining order yet? She has plenty of evidence. #AskThicke," posted one fan, while another chimed in, "Will your next album, dedicated to your son, be called, How I Emotionally Manipulate Your Mother & Perpetuate Rape Culture?"
Thicke has been on a very public apology tour to reconcile with Patton ever since the couple announced their split in February. After serenading her with Marvin Gaye on his tour and announcing to anyone who would listen that he was working on mending fences, Thicke made his boldest move yet at the BET Awards on Sunday night during a performance of his new single, "Forever Love," off his new album titled Paula.
Seated at a piano under a giant neon sign bearing his ex's name, Thicke ended his performance by flashing a photo of the couple during happier times and saying, "I love you and I'm sorry."
While Patton seems to be immune to her husband's apologies — the former couple have reportedly not seen each other in four months — she has also not made any moves as of yet to file for divorce.
Perhaps a silver lining for the lovelorn Robin Thicke?
