Singing legend joins American Horror Story: Freak Show.
A legendary diva is coming to the small screen. Patti LaBelle has joined the cast of American Horror Story: Freak Show, TVLine.com reports. The singing legend will play Gabourey Sidibe's mother in a recurring role described as "a local townsperson who begins to unravel the murderous secrets of Twisty the clown killer."
LaBelle will join Sidibe, Angela Bassett, 12 Years a Slave star Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates and others for the acclaimed series, which earned 17 Emmy nominations this year. Shooting is underway in New Orleans.
On the big screen, Naomie Harris had boarded Antoine Fuqua's Southpaw to play a social worker tasked to ensure the well-being of the daughter of a comeback fighter (Jake Gyllenhaal). Lupita Nyong'o was reportedly also in the running for the role.
Forest Whitaker and 50 Cent also star in the film, which was written by Eminem.
