Ving Rhames and Barkhad Abdi are set to star together in the new Phil Volken-directed drama, Extortion. The story's plot centers around a doctor who desperately tries to save his wife and 5-year-old son after their vacation in the Bahamas takes an unforeseen turn.
There is no word yet on what specific roles Rhames or Abdi will play, but Shadow and Act confirms they will star alongside Jake McLaughlin, Frank Gillo and Nicky Whelan. Production for Extortion is scheduled to begin in Puerto Rico this month.
In the meantime, both actors already have projects currently in the works. Rhames will return to Mission: Impossible 5 alongside Tom Cruise, and Oscar-nominated Abdi is set to play famous South African marathon runner Willie Mtolo in an upcoming historical drama about his life.
