John Legend and Common are Golden Globe winners. The recording artists, who collaborated on the song "Glory" for Ava DuVernay's civil rights drama Selma, took home the award for Best Original Song. The award was presented by none other than Prince.
In his passionate acceptance speech, Common said, "Selma is now," referring to the recent protests across the country in response to the failure to indict the cops that killed Michael Brown and Eric Garner.
After the early win, Selma was shut out from the other three categories for which it was nominated, including Best Director for DuVernay, Best Actor in a Drama for David Oyelowo and Best Motion Picture - Drama. 
On the television side, Viola Davis also lost the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Drama to The Affair's Ruth Wilson. Davis has earned universal praise for her role as Annalise Keating on the Shonda Rhimes-produced show How to Get Away With Murder.
