Shonda Rhimes Hated Lady Gaga's Oscar Performance

Called the pop star's rendition of Julie Andrews's classic "not okay."

Well! It looks like Shonda Rhimes definitely does not stan for Lady Gaga. The TV mogul slammed the pop star's Oscar performance of medleys from Julie Andrews's classic musical The Sound of Music, calling it "not okay."
“I mean, Idina [Menzel] is there. She is right there. RIGHT THERE. And oh dear God, Julie [Andrews] had to hear that. #Oscars2015," tweeted Rhimes during the telecast.

Gaga's performance was otherwise universally praised, and even brought tears to Andrews's eyes. On Monday, a fan responded to Rhimes’s criticism, writing, “@shondarhimes wow, missing the point. The unexpected Gaga made the moment.” The Scandal producer replied, “I probably did miss the point. Everyone else loved it. That’s okay.”
But sometimes praise is worse than criticism, as was the case with Kristi Capel, co-anchor of Fox 8 News in the Morning in Cleveland. The former beauty queen shocked audiences, and her Black co-anchor, when she referred to Gaga's music as "jigaboo," a known racial slur. "It's hard to really hear her voice with all that jigaboo music that she does, or whatever you want to call it. Jigaboo,” she said on-air Monday morning, laughing.

“She has a gorgeous voice. I never knew. Very nice," she added. Capel has since issued an apology.
