Will Smith's Focus takes second place.

Published March 9, 2015

Looks like not a lot of people went to the movies this weekend, but those who did chose Chappie. The dystopian drama, starring Hugh Jackman, came in first place with a low $13.3 million opening. Last weekend’s holdover Focus, starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie, came in second with $10 million while The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel debuted with $8.6 million for third place.

Rounding out the top five were Kingsman: The Secret Service, starring Samuel L. Jackson, with $8.3 million, and The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water with $7 million.

Fifty Shades of Grey dropped to number six with $5.6 million and a cumulative gross of $156.4 million in its fourth weekend.

Vince Vaughn's Unfinished Business was a certified bomb with just $4.8 million and a 10th place finish, making the film the lowest box-office debut of his career for a major release. Next week, Liam Neeson chases the bad guys (again) in Run All Night, while a story tale comes to life in Cinderella is your #1 source for Black celebrity news, photos, exclusive videos and all the latest in the world of hip hop and R&B music.
