Ice Cube, Kenya Barris Team Up for Comedy White Boy Problems

Black-ish creator will write the script with The Goldbergs' executive producer, Alex Barnow.

A new comedy may be joining the prime-time lineup and Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and hip hop icon Ice Cube are at the helm. Deadline reports that they both teamed up with Alex Barnow (The Goldbergs' executive producer) to pitch the project titled White Boy Problems to New Line and MGM.

Barris and Barnow will collaborate in writing the script while Ice Cube will serve as the project's narrative voice and producer under his Cable Vision banner. Barris will also be the comedy's executive producer.

According to Deadline, the plot follows "a hapless white guy, perenially disrespected by everyone from his girlfriend to his co-workers, [who] wakes up after an accident, and the voice inside his head is Ice Cube. It's the Straight Outta Compton Cube, who's pretty pissed about what this guy has let happen to him. Driven by that voice, he begins to develop confidence to take back his life."

If this film makes its way to the television circuit, it will mark another highly anticipated project led by Cube as he is also involved in Straight Outta Compton, the NWA biopic that is slated to be released later this year. He is also set to star in the upcoming Ride Along 2 alongside Kevin Hart and Barbershop 3, which is said to begin production soon.
