This should get the Barbz excited. Nicki Minaj has signed on to join the cast of Barbershop 3, Variety.com reports. The rapper will star alongside Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer in the three-quel to the hit 2002 film.
Minaj will play Draya, the sassy hairdresser of the beauty shop portion of the barbershop. The rapper made her film debut last year in The Other Woman as the assistant to Cameron Diaz’s character. As Minaj told us at that time, making her mark on Hollywood is a big goal for her. Looks like she found her lane in comedy!
Malcolm D. Lee, who directed the Best Man movies, is directing Barbershop 3 and the script was written by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver. Regina Hall, Eve and Common are also starring in the film.
Seems like Cube has assembled a great team for this sequel — it may be worth the 11 years we've had to wait!
