Report: Marvel Eyeing Ava DuVernay to Direct Black Panther or Captain Marvel

The Selma director could be first Black woman to helm for the company.

Ava DuVernay's career is climbing faster than Spider-Man on the side of a building. From indie standout to director of an Oscar-nominated film, Selma, Hollywood has been waiting to see what DuVernay will do next. Turns out, she may be joining the Marvel universe.

TEN THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT AVA DUVERNAY

TheWrap.com reports that the comic movie giant is courting DuVernay to direct one of its diverse superhero movies, which include Black Panther or Captain Marvel, with insiders suggesting that Black Panther, slated for release in July 2018, is the most likely possibility.
