After becoming a hit in 2005, theater fans have been waiting for a revival of The Color Purple on Broadway. Those who have been waiting can now exhale: the show is back, and it's better than ever.

We sat down with the three actresses who star in the musical — Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson in her Broadway debut, Orange Is the New Black's Danielle Brooks and British thespian Cynthia Erivo — to talk about what makes this version of The Color Purple on Broadway so different, what has changed about the sexual politics in the story over the last couple of decades and what made each of them say, "I am here."
