Jill Scott on Defending Bill Cosby: 'I Was Wrong'
Since she was one of the most vocal celebrities to stand up for Bill Cosby amid allegations of sex abuse over the past few months, Jill Scott is having to answer to a lot of "I told you so" online now that the comedy icon has admitted to buying quaaludes in order to drug women.
The soul singer, who asked for "substantiated proof" of his misdeeds despite the word of over 40 women who told the same story, is now saying she's "disgusted" with Cosby after new court documents from a 2005 lawsuit reveal the rumors about him are probably true.
"About Bill Cosby. Sadly his own testimony offers PROOF of terrible deeds, which is ALL I have ever required to believe the accusations," Scott tweeted on Monday, after the bomb-filled deposition was made public.
"Proof will always matter more than public opinion. The sworn testimony is proof. Completely disgusted," she added. "I stood by a man I respected and loved. I was wrong. It HURTS!!! When you get it ALL right, holla."
Scott is probably not the only celeb who will be backing off her support of Cosby in the coming days. Waiting to hear from you next, Phylicia Rashad and Whoopi Goldberg...
