Hulk Hogan is on an apology tour over his n-word scandal and says he even contemplated suicide after the tape of him repeatedly using the offensive phrase was leaked.
Appearing on Good Morning America, Hogan spoke about where his head was in 2006, when he was caught on video repeatedly hurling racial slurs (he was also seen cheating with his best friend's wife on the same video — not a great look for the former wrestler all around). "I was to the point where I wanted to kill myself, you know?" Hogan tearfully explained on Monday morning. "I was completely broken and destroyed and said, ‘What's the easiest way out of this?' I mean, I was lost."
Hogan explained he inherited his views and language from growing up in Tampa, Florida. "People need to realize that you inherit things from your environment. And where I grew up was south Tampa, Port Tampa, and it was a really rough neighborhood, very low income. And all my friends, we greeted each other saying that word."
Still, though, he wants to make it clear that no matter how many times he has used the n-word, he's no racist. "I'm not a racist but I never should have said what I said," he said. "It was wrong. I'm embarrassed by it."
Too bad Hogan's mea culpa didn't have the assistance of streaks of black mascara like Paula Deen's. But similar to the TV chef, we're pretty sure the former WWE star will gain as many fans because of his racist language.
