The Hollywood Reporter Ranked the 100 Best TV Shows and Only Four Black Shows Made the Cut

Martin, Good Times and even The Cosby Show weren't worthy.

The Hollywood Reporter just released it's list of the 100 best television shows of all time, and — sad but not surprising — only four Black shows made the cut. Those programs privileged enough to be included are Scandal (#77), The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (#54), The Wire (#30) and Orange Is the New Black (#26). If that last one has you raising your eyebrow, we don't blame you, but at least a case can be made to include it.
Of course, the list of groundbreaking, critically-acclaimed, historic and popular series with Black narratives that weren't included makes a much longer list. Among the titles the voting body, described only as "Hollywood insiders," ignored are classics like The Jeffersons and The Cosby Show, as well as ratings blockbusters like The GameGirlfriends and Living Single.
You can check out the complete list here, and if you're like us, you'll be making your own of all the shows THR ignored.
