Was Petey Pablo's Empire Appearance a Returned Favor?
If you've seen the latest episode of Empire, chances are you saw the random — but welcomed — appearance from MC Petey Pablo. While many were pleasantly surprised by his guest spot, some felt it was a bit too random and began to assume that Terrence Howard was returning a favor of the "Freek-A-Leek" rapper loaning him $200 years ago. According to Pablo, that's not the case.
"Totally not true," he told Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy of The Breakfast Club. "I woke up and [saw] that s**t and was like, 'What the f**k, man?' No, that's not it."
Well, it's not all false. Accoridng to Pablo, he did give the Empire star $200, but it wasn't a loan. It was all in good graces. "I didn't lend it to him. I just gave it to him," he said. "He said he lost his credit card, id, his wallet. He said he lost everything, so I said, 'Hey, don't be in there with no money in your pocket, take a couple hundred dollars... This was after Hustle & Flow. I [saw] him at the hotel at the Four Seasons."
There you have it. Pablo was just helping a brother out, out of the goodness of his heart and managed to make a connection out of it. "I'm a good dude," he said. "I'm a goon and a gorilla, but at the end of the day, I'm a good-hearted dude, and I do things for people that I would want people to do for me... and that was just his way of saying 'Thank you.'"
To officially prove that it wasn't a matter of reimbursement, the rapper said that Howard didn't even pay him for his appearance — Empire did. "After, he said, 'Now, we've got that out of the way, I need a favor. I need you on this show,'" he said. "That's not Terrence's show. Terrence is a part of the show, but Empire paid me the money."
