We've seen Tamar Braxton shed tears over various celebrity feuds, bullying and her own health issues on The Real. On Wednesday's episode, however, she shared her scariest experience to date: nearly losing her husband, Vincent Herbert, to potentially deadly blood clots in 2012.
Asked by her co-host Jeannie Mai about how Vince has been doing, Braxton becomes visibly emotional. "I get so choked up... he had seven blood clots and what I do want to say about that is you’ve got to be really careful," she says. "You’ve got to get checked to make sure that your blood is not too thick. When you’re on a plane, don’t sit for hours, get up and walk around. Let your blood circulate. Yes, he does have a condition. However, if you don’t have a condition, you can still get blood clots and it goes straight to your heart and it can kill you. Just remember that he was just so strong, you know, and although it was the most horrible time in my life, he was just my hero."
She continues to describe the moment Herbert suffered the internal attack, which landed him in a coma. "He didn’t let me know he was in pain," she says. "The only reason I knew he couldn’t breathe is because he was gasping for every breath he took."
The Dancing With the Stars contestant and her music executive husband decided to have a baby after surviving the life-threatening condition, and the following year welcomed their son, Logan. Watch Tamar's emotional recap of the events below:
