We've all heard of the Oscar curse, but did you know that it extends to those who host the show as well? Just ask Neil Patrick Harris, whose dance numbers and weak jokes during last year's telecast resulted in a 16 percent drop in ratings. Now, according to Variety, the Academy is looking to shake things up by bringing back one of the few hosts who actually got good reviews emceeing Hollywood's biggest night: Chris Rock.
The site reports that Rock is in final talks to host next year's Oscars, his first time back at the podium since he hosted in 2005. The choice is not a total surprise, given that producing duties have been handed over to Reginald Hudlin, a veteran director and producer who helped architect Rock's semi-autobiographical sitcom Everybody Hates Chris (Hudlin was also the President of Entertainment at BET from 2005 until 2008).
Of course, Rock killed it as host of the BET Awards in 2014. Watch a clip from his opening monologue below!
