Khloé Kardashian: Lamar Doesn't Know What Happened

Sources say he can't recognize close friends and family.

While on the promotional trail for her new book, Strong Looks Better Naked, Lamar Odom's estranged wife Khloé Kardashian stopped by Ellen and spoke on the NBA star's most recent state, and from what she explained, things are starting to move slower than expected.

"He's off all the machines that help his organs, but still, he has such a long way to go," she said. "He's learning how to walk again and feed himself and put sentences together... it's a long, long road ahead."

What is more hearbreaking, though, is that Odom doesn't seem to know how he ended up in the hospital in the first place, and reminding him would only bring on more trauma. "We tell him that he had a brain injury, but we can't tell him how that brain injury was caused, because that will set him back," she said. "He never asks why he's here. He doesn't ask. He's really confused a lot — sometimes he knows who the president is and his birthday, and sometimes he thinks he's 26, and I say, 'I bet you wish you were 26, so do I!'"

TMZ adds that while Odom has been out of his coma for a while, sources say that he often seems "empty." This "emptiness" is even affecting his communication with his closest friends and family as when they come to visit, he doesn't recognize any of them.

Reportedly, the young Kardashian sister is hoping he's well enough to travel to her boyfriend James Hardens' Christmas game in Houston.

Odom's been hospitalized since October 13 after he was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel.
