Idris Elba, Will Smith and Regina King also recognized.

The Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning, and it looks like Taraji P. Henson and Viola Davis will once again compete in the Best Actress in a Drama Series category. The How to Get Away With Murder star historically won an Emmy for her role in the Shonda Rhimes-produced series earlier this year, but maybe this time it will be Cookie's turn to step up to the podium?

Empire was also nominated for Best Drama Series, a category that did not recognize How to Get Away With Murder. Meanwhile, Regina King (American Crime) and Uzo Aduba (Orange Is the New Black) will both compete in the Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series – Drama category and David Oyelowo snagged a Best Actor in a TV Miniseries or Movie category for his work in Nightingale.

Over on the motion picture side, Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation) and Will Smith (Concussion) both earned nods. Elba will compete in the Best Supporting Actor category, while Smith will go for Best Actor in a Drama. The biggest surprise was Sylvester Stallone's nomination for Creed: this is the legendary actor's first Golden Globe nomination since Rocky in 1977.
