Céline Dion's Husband René Angélil Has Died

Her manager and mentor fought a long battle with cancer.

Céline Dion is currently mourning the death of her husband, René Angélil. His rep has confirmed that he has lost his battle with cancer. He was 73.

"René Angélil, 73, passed away this morning at his home in Las Vegas after a long and courageous battle against cancer," Dion's rep said in a statement, according to People. "The family requests that their privacy be respected at the moment."

The Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner told the publication that Angélil died of throat cancer in the privacy of their home in Henderson. He was under the care of his physician. The coroner's office also confirmed that his death was due to natural causes.

Aside from being her loving husband, Angélil also served as Dion's career adviser, manager and mentor. He is survived by their three young children, René-Charles, 14, and their 5-year-old twins, Nelson and Eddy, and his adult children from a previous marriage, Anne-Marie, Patrick and Jean-Pierre.

We send our heartfelt condolences to Dion, their friends, families, and fans during this difficult time.
