Which Major Pop Icon Was Kerry Washington's Childhood Dance Teacher?
Kerry Washington's first brush with fame happened when she was just a little girl in The Bronx. The Scandal star told Jimmy Fallon that she found herself with a dance teacher who went on to become one of the biggest international stars in the world.
"I had this very inspiring teacher named Larry Maldonado. For anybody from my neighborhood in the Bronx, he was our role model," Washington shared. "He had an awesome substitute teacher named Jennifer who would sometimes step in and teach but then she left to move to L.A. and be on In Living Color."
Learning how to eight-count from Jennifer Lopez, NBD! Washington waited for Fallon to figure it out before saying, "I learned to dance from J.Lo!"
"So it was, like, meant to be that I would be famous," she added jokingly. "Don't be fooled by the rocks that I've got — I'm Kerry from the block."
