The Hollywood Reporter reported last week that Don Cheadle had replaced Terrence Howard in the "Iron Man" sequel over purported contract issues. This week, Howard told NPR he knew nothing about his dismissal until reading it in the trades.
Although Howard is a fine actor, he's "different" and can be challenging to deal with. So, when news broke that he had been replaced in "Iron Man 2," WTF wasn't too surprised. Howard, however, told NPR that he was shocked.
“It was the surprise of a lifetime. There was no explanation. [The contract] just…up and vanished,” Howard said wistfully.
Hmmm. Something about this doesn't really smell right. Whaddup? The talking heads at Marvel Studios issued a terse "no comment," when asked to respond about Howard getting the boot. Hopefully Howard and his agents can get to the bottom of this and spill in the coming days.
Do you smell a rat?
