America has a new black President-elect. What's next?!
Well, according to Daniel Craig, the current James Bond, the world might be ripe for a black 007.
Craig, who took over the franchise two years ago with "Casino Royale," returns this week in "Quantum of Solace" with Jeffrey Wright and Dame Judi Dench reprising their roles. After watching Barack Obama's historic victory last week, Craig seems to think any good actor regardless of race could play Bond.
According to WENN, Craig, the first blond Bond said: "After Barack Obama's victory I think we might have reached the moment for a coloured 007. I think the role could easily be played by a black actor, because the character created by Ian Flemming in the '50s has undergone a great deal of evolution and continues to be updated.
"I've always been a fan of Obama. The political ideas that have emerged from his speeches seem to me to be genuine."
Now for those of you who might be offended by Craig's use of the word "coloured," take a deep breath. That term is still widely used in the United Kingdom to describe people of color. It ain't right, but he was speaking to reporters in his own country not over here.
What do you think? What brother could do Bond justice? Idris Elba gets my vote!
