"Twilight," the film that has just about every teen-age girl losing her mind, ruled the weekend box office. But it's opening take was even more than industry experts expected.

Based on a series of popular books, this thriller about hot young vampires raked in $70.6 million. "Twilight" opened at midnight Thursday night in most major cities with virtually every screening sold out.

Coming in second was the bad Bond movie "Quantum of Solace, that added another $27.4 million to the $109 million it has already earned in the past 10 days.  "Bolt," an animated feature about a dog came in third with $27 million.

Also placing in the Top 10 were: "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa," "Role Models," "Changeling," "High School Musical 3: Senior Year," "Zack and Miri Make a Porno," "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" and "The Secret Life of Bees."
