It's that time of the week when folks rush to the local Wal-Mart or Target to get the best deals on newly-released DVDs. This week we've got a couple of gems.
"Dark Knight," the best Batman flick ever and arguably one of the best graphic novels ever brought to screen, comes out today.
When "Knight" hit theaters last spring it was accompanied by a ton of hype, mostly because of the death of Heath Ledger who plays The Joker. Ledger's performance should earn him a posthumous Academy Award nomination for supporting actor if the studio launches a major campaign for him despite director Christopher Nolan's objections.
The film, which groseed more than $975 million worldwide, stars Christian Bale (quite possibly the best Batman ever), Maggie Gyllenhaal, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Aaron Eckhart. Batman, intent on eliminating the criminal element in Gotham City for good, meets his match against the nefarious Joker.
The special 2-disc special edition includes some really nice extras including: six IMAX sequences and featurettes on "Gotham Tonight," "Gotham Undercovered" and a digital copy of the film. The double disc will set you back about $34 depending where you shop. There is also a single disc available for about $28.
