Now that she's wrapped up her one-season stint on ABC's "Boston Legal," you're going to be seeing a lot of Taraji P. Henson on the big screen in the coming months.
Henson, best known for her roles in "Hustle & Flow" and "Talk to Me," has four major films coming out this fall and winter. First up is Tyler Perry's "The Family that Preys," about two families from different sides of the tracks who learn to deal with each other.
In December, the D.C. native will play Brad Pitt's mama--don't ask me how that is possible because I don't know--in the much-anticipated fantasy drama "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"; and as Forest Whitaker's wife in "Hurricane Season," a biopic based on a New Orleans high school basketball coach who led his team to the state championship after Hurricane Katrina. Henson's fellow Howard alum Isaiah Washington is also in the cast.
Henson will kick off '09 by appearing in T.D. Jakes' "Not Easily Broken" opposite Morris Chestnut. Directed by Bill Duke, the film focuses on a marriage that is falling apart after a series of incidents.
Is this just a lucky streak or crafty planning by her management team--the same crew behind the success of Halle Berry? My guess is that it's a little bit of both. Plus, the girl is just flat-out talented. I mean if she can make audiences believe she gave birth to Brad Pitt, she can do anything.
