2011 Golden Globe Nominations: Halle and Idris Get Noms

The 2011 Golden Globe nominations are in -- the diversity of last year's award season is no more.

The 2011 Golden Globe nominations are in -- the diversity of last year's award season is no more. You'll get more color at the Country Music Awards!\r
Some of the expected were nominated like Inception for best picture, James Franco for best actor in 127 Hours and five nods for Glee.\r
Again, not much to look for in the diversity front but Halle Berry received a best actress nomination for her performance as a woman suffering with split personalities in Frankie & Alice. Halle has been nominated two times before and won in 2000 for Introducing Dorothy Dandridge.\r
Idris Elba received a nomination for best performance by an actor in a miniseries or motion picture made for television for Luther. This is Elba's first Golden Globe nomination and it is long overdue.  His greatest performance, HBO's Sometimes in April in 2005, was ignored by the Hollywood Foreign Press.\r
Whatever the case, being honored by mainstream awards does not indicate success, and many of the nominations are well-deserved like Annette Bening for The Kids Are All Right, Melissa Leo for The Fighter and The Social Network.\r
